Why Beliefs Matter
What we believe shapes everything—how we understand God, how we live, and how we follow Jesus. At BPChurch, we believe that truth matters because God has spoken, and knowing Him rightly leads to loving Him more deeply.
The Importance of Scripture
Our beliefs are not based on tradition, preference, or cultural trends, but on the Bible, which we believe is God’s Word. The statements that follow are a summary of what we understand the Scriptures to teach.
Why We Have a Statement of Faith
This statement of faith helps define what we teach, what we unite around, and what guides our ministry. It protects the church from confusion and helps us remain grounded in the truth.
Levels of Importance
While we hold firmly to all that Scripture teaches, we recognize that not every doctrine carries the same level of importance. Some truths are essential to the gospel and the Christian faith, while others, though still important, allow for differences among faithful believers.

The Bible
The Bible is the inerrant word of God and is the final authority on what we are to believe and do.
Jesus Christ, the Son
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, our only Savior and Mediator, who died, rose again, and will return to reign.
Sin
All people are sinners by nature and choice, separated from God and unable to save themselves.
Satan
Satan is a real and personal enemy of God and humanity who will ultimately be defeated and eternally judged.
The Trinity
There is only one God who created everything, and He eternally exists as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit indwells every believer, bringing new life, transforming us into Christ’s likeness, and empowering us for faithful living.
Salvation by Grace
Salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not as a result of works, and believers are eternally secure.
Believer's Responsibilities
Every believer is called to faithfully steward their time, gifts, and resources for God’s purposes and the mission of the Church.
God the Father
God the Father is the sovereign Creator and ruler of all, who graciously adopts believers as His children through Jesus Christ.
Humanity
God created humanity in His image as male and female, and designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman.
The Church
A church is a local community of baptized believers committed to worship, discipleship, fellowship, and sharing the gospel.
Resurrection
All people will be resurrected—believers to eternal life with God and unbelievers to eternal judgment.
Distinctives
Church distinctives are the theological convictions and ministry priorities that shape how a church lives, teaches, and functions. They don’t replace our shared commitment to the gospel with other faithful churches, but they do clarify how we understand Scripture and carry out our mission together. These distinctives help provide unity, direction, and clarity for our leadership and congregation as we seek to be faithful to Christ in all things.
Christ-Centered
We believe Jesus Christ is the center of all Scripture, the focus of our preaching, and the foundation of our lives. Everything we do—from worship to discipleship—is aimed at knowing Him, exalting Him, and becoming more like Him.
Authority & Sufficiency of Scripture
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired and inerrant Word and is the final authority in all matters of faith and life. Scripture is not only authoritative but sufficient, meaning it provides everything we need to know God, grow in godliness, and guide the church.
Sovereign Grace
We believe salvation is entirely the work of God’s grace, from beginning to end. God sovereignly initiates, accomplishes, and applies redemption to all who believe in Jesus. All who are saved are saved by His power, and not human effort.
Elder-Led
We believe the church is to be led by a plurality and parity of qualified elders who shepherd, teach, and oversee the congregation. This model reflects biblical patterns of shared leadership, accountability, and spiritual care.
Equipping
We believe every believer is called to ministry, and the role of church leadership is to equip the saints for the work of service. Through teaching, discipleship, and intentional training, we seek to help every member grow and actively participate in the life of the church.
Family-Focused
We believe God has designed the family as a primary context for discipleship. We aim to support and strengthen families, encouraging parents to take an active role in the spiritual formation of their children. We also value children as an important part of the church body and love having them participate in the corporate worship and serving alongside their families.
Complementarian
We believe men and women are equal in value and dignity but have distinct, complementary roles in the home and the church. In accordance with Scripture, we affirm qualified men as elders/pastors while encouraging both men and women to fully use their gifts in ministry.
